Gjermund Eide is an active-duty officer and has been serving as a military advisor to the NATO Secretary General in Brussels since 2014. Prior to that, he was the spokesperson for the Norwegian Armed Forces. Eide has also served as an instructor at the Norwegian Defence University College, worked in the Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Defence, served as a contingent commander for the Norwegian forces in Afghanistan, and has been a military advisor to both the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Defence. Eide holds a Master of Science from the National Defence University in Washington, D.C. He has also studied for two years at the Swedish Defence University and attended the Norwegian Defence University College.
